DICKTATORS
I set myself a daily illustration challenge. The goal was to do one artwork a day over a month (March 29th - April 27th 2017). It was important to me to incorporate style practices and establish a well functioning workflow.
Due to the current political uprising of many nationalist movements around the world and their supporters demand to return to the "good old values" together with the glorification of strong leaders my subject was easily found: Dictators.

For rather obvious reasons (acting against human rights, disrespecting free press/speech, causing wars etc.) I named the project Dic-k-tators. Throughout history there have been many and I was only able to pick a few for my task due to the limit of picturing 30 individuals. Most of the people shown are contemporary figures eager to shape the world according to their perspective.

Another big section are men that dominated the 20th century. Not all of them might be a dictator by definition. But especially these characters try to undermine democratic systems in their favour. And this alone makes them a legit choice for this list. Only a few of my pictures were from times before the 20th century. Still I tried to cover a certain spectrum of self centered egomaniacs throughout history in a chronological order.

Thanks for tuning in!
