1874 is an annual fest of MITID. The festival brings together students and binds them with multicolored strings of music, art, and games. The installation team is given the core responsibility of designing environments and making the event spatially and structurally exciting. With a strong team of 12, we set about to experiment with material, spaces, and people.
The launch
Bamboo is a sustainable and eco-friendly material. To test its tensile strength, a dome was made to create a platform for events to take place. It creates interest and a platform for events with a twist that is, only the shadow will be seen.

THE WALL
Every year the wall in the foyer is painted to reflect the main attributes of the festival. The foyer is also the space that brings people together for the major events to take place, hence painting it with the right energy was essential.

THE STAGE
Music binds us together. For the band night, the backdrop was created to bring out the best in the musicians and also a very engaging environment for the audience. Keeping lighting, space, and visuals in mind, the backdrop for the event was materialized. The entire backdrop was a zero budget project.

THE COUNTDOWN
To maximize energy and anticipation amongst the students the Arduino based countdown was conceptualized. An interactive light installation that changes the with respect to each day. Important messages for the day could also be broadcasted through the installation.
