                             The Goddess in India
Lakshmi sits at the feet of Vishnu, “Patriarchy!” someone shouts. Kali stands on Shiva’s chest, “female power!” someone cheers. Shiva as Ardhanareshwar, half a woman, gender equality they say. The Indian way of seeing is symbolic, subjective and not subtle, not the modern way of seeing which is rooted in the literal manner. The series aims to celebrate the passion, the versatility, the sacrifice, the compassion of the Indian women which makes them divine by retelling the stories with illustrations. The book talks about unknown and uncommon stories of Indian goddess also the reason behind the Indian way of iconography.
