Celebrating Fukuda

This tactile poster was produced In conjunction with SJ50, Celebrating Fukuda is a 3D installation done in commemoration of one of Japan's finest Graphic Designer, optical illusionist & Poster Designer —Shigeo Fukuda
SJ50 was all about promoting co-existence and harmony between people of different culture. I adopted Fukuda's methods and recreated one of his 2D poster design he did for Japan's 9th National Cultural Festival into a 3D installation.

Adopting the look of a trophy, this commemorative medallion pays tribute to Fukuda. With the use of clear acrylic as a canvas base and translucent coloured acrylic shaped with the silhouettes of faces represents different people and colours represent different personalities. The overlapping faces create a harmonious optical illusion, vivid colour burst, exemplifying the beauty of people from different cultural background coming together, effectively portraying the absolute purpose in celebrating co-existence.
