Why do you like being a man/woman ?
Why do you not like being a man/woman ?
Why would you like to be a man/woman ?
Why would you not like to be a man/woman ?

THEY is a book that portrays an utopian society where there is no gender expectation.

At the beginning of the 4 days workshop, I interviewed young peoples from all around the world, and asked them about their representation of gender. Their answers defined my concept for this book.

Gender is fluid and defines by the society you live in. A lady from Indonesia doesn't have the same representation of being a woman as a lady from France. You can be a boy in a woman's body. You can be a woman and masculine. Everything is possible and there are no frontiers.

Because it was a 4 days workshop I had to develop a system of illustrations that wouldn't take too much time to create while being visually powerful and representative of the concept. I used photography as a base and re-draw everything on illustrator and, while experimenting, I realized that gradient makes dull colors appear more juicy by associating them with each other.
