Redesign and interpretation of Homer's epic poems.

I understand the Odyssey as the journey of a man trying to reach the peace he once had. Almost like a metaphysical experience. That’s what I tried to express through the whole book: the experience of a journey. A line representing Homer’s journey travels across the book, from the cover to the last page. I wanted to add movement and interaction to the book, that’s why the introduction is bound to the front cover; when you open the book the lines move to connect and complete the expedition.

I also wanted to combine the old heritage of ancient Greece with the modernism of the Bauhaus. I choose to typeset the book in folded A3 in order to stress the linearity of a journey and to resemble an ancient parchment; that mimics how the Odyssey was written and read during 8th century BC. The vivid neon colours stress the contrast between eras.

The Iliad cover, instead, focuses in tension. The tension between two armies battling to death.
