Logo proposal: Jessi’s Market at Delmonico’s
Jessi’s Market at Delmonico’s is a new take on an old idea. Delmonico’s was a three-generation family-owned neighborhood market in northeast Minneapolis. The building was purchased by Jessica Rivera with the goal of opening a restaurant, catering service, and market in the historic storefront. The creative direction was to build on the history of Delmonico's and communicate and new life and new energy.
Direction 1: Vintage Signage
I designed Jessi’s script and Market industrial lettering by hand and then digitized it. It is similar to vintage grocery stores and liquor stores and has a no-nonsense Midwestern vibe. While low on concept, it aims for charm and welcomes its guests. The most unique detail is the ligature combining the “i” in Jessi’s with the apostrophe.
Direction 2: The Star of Northeast
Jessi’s Market is opening in an historic space of Northeast Minneapolis. It’s an historic location and a neighborhood staple that goes back generations. I proposed calling it The Star of Northeast. My icon design is a northeast-pointing star, a simple solution that gains meaning with repeated viewing.
