Through initiatives such as Limerick Smarter Travel, and increased funding for data centres and the Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures, Limerick City is investing in becoming a Smart City of the Future. The Smart Limerick App seeks to tap into these technologies to provide both locals and visitors with a platform that streamlines the Smart City experience.
The app is designed to be accessible by anyone; with its bold and visually driven interface, backed by a bespoke typeface, a limited colour palette, and carefully crafted icons it strives to be accessible irrespective of age and language barriers. Furthermore, the app adapts to the end user in order to personalise the experience. Live updates allow the app to offer the most relevant functions at any given moment. The goal is make these smart systems available to anyone by displaying them through a singular portal on any smart phone – allowing its features to be conveniently available and interconnected.
