“The Barcelona Collection” is a wallpaper collection inspired by the livliness and romantic nature of Barcelona. Turning to this inspiration from Barcelona and a trip to the lovely city, I interpreted the Spanish pattern, mosaics, & architecture with the use of focusing on hand-drawn processes such as watercolor painting, collage, and pen & paper. These initial processes are used in order to allow the classic motifs and antique mosaics & tiles of Barcelona to have a
different hand and therefore possess a contemporary edge. Color is derived from color seen around the vibrant city, pulled from my travel photos and looking ahead to upcoming trends, obtained from forecasting sites such as wgsn and other interior design and fashion
magazines/websites. With the market for this textile collection being residential interiors with a focus on wallpaper, the collection features a mixture of both bright & bold repeats, with a larger scale for wallpaper. Included is both detailed and simpler designs for a variety
of uses within the collection for interior spaces. Taking inspiration from all that Barcelona has to offer in terms of design: patterned exteriors, intricate architecture, energetic color, and unique mosaics, the streets of the Spanish city can enter the home and fill living spaces with a lighthearted and energetic fondness of Spain.
