Scotchage - Art Catalogue

Scotchage
Giuseppe Abbati is an Italian artist known for the lightness and the poetic nature of his artwork. He is also the pioneer of a new technique called Scotchage.
This technique evolved from the already known Collage, and the innovation lies in the use of the adhesive tape instead of the glue.
What makes this technique interesting is the fact that the artwork abandons the traditional support and, instead of being glued on paper or on a canvas,
it is sealed between two transparent plastic sheets. In this way the visual composition can expand freely in the transparent space, as a tree extends its branches
in the sky. The same concept has been projected on the catalogue cover, by printing a fragment of one of Abbati's artwork on a clear plastic dust jacket.
