The idea of Neon art has been booming within the art scene, the west has been able to dedicate full gallery spaces to them within their numerous museums. Saudi Arabia has also started to incorporate the neon art pieces into their scene, however no galleries have been dedicated to the neon pieces alone. Neon art requires certain light that cannot be put around other art pieces, such as photography for example. Saudi Arabia not only has the art link to the neon pieces, but the neon lights are part of this regions culture!
Before dedicating an entire space to neon art, are there enough artists out there covering this area? Yes. Whether it is the works of top artists in the region, such as Nasser Al Salem, Ali Chaaban, Abdulnasser Gharem and many more, there is a direct link to the culture as well. The neon lights on the top of mosques, mini markets, shawarma shops, all parts of the culture. For that reason, launching a museum with separate galleries that are all linked to the Saudi Neon art scene in the region. Galleries include, photography, installations, the city & calligraphy. Launching it with the name ‘Noor’ and the visual of the neon circuit to aesthetically represent the museum.
