To use elements from an existing magazine to create a new magazine using experimental type

I feel that the classics often suffer from a lack of design so I chose to update some classic adventure stories. As I thought about the themes of each novel I became interested in how the authors contrasted a fantastical pseudo-science with dark, raw human emotions. I kept the book covers black and white to visualize these two sides of human nature. Adding physical handwork was also important as I tore, scribbled and washed away the type to create depth and textures.
