Nature's Aeroplanes: The Biomechanics of Bird Flight

Personal Project

Brief: ‘Nature’s Aeroplanes: The Biomechanics of Bird Flight Exhibition’

The most diverse group of flyers to ever evolve are the birds (grouped in the taxonomic clade Aves). Birds show a marvelous diversity not only of species but of flight adaptation. The exhibition, Nature’s Aeroplanes: The Biomechanics of Bird Flight, uses the Natural History Museum’s world-class collection to explore how different birds take to the air: how they exploit aerodynamic lift, drag and glide, and how their anatomy is adapted to different flight patterns and environments.
