[ A compendium of communicative records decontextualized and related to each other, mirroring the social relations and the perception of a reality of a generation ]
With the intent of capturing the influence of our generation in the present time, we decided to focus on our lexic, language per say, of how we communicate, as in the means of technology used and adjacent vernacular.
By overlapping and relating the spoken communication with the textual (instantaneous communication, chats), we sought to compile sound records and images of texts records.

We wanted to show how the evolution of technology and how the own generation's perspective towards it influences and alters the parameters of communication and, collaterally, their lexic. So, as a way to demonstrate how we socially interact, we recorded friends and known people normally speaking without being aware of the fact they're being audio recorded. Then we would show them what was recorded, and asked if we could use the parts that were more interesting in lexical terms to include in our compendium. This way, by announcing after, we would prevent the change of their vocabular, maintaning their daily speech throughout. Regarding the textual communication, we screenprinted parts of chats, and asked for more screenprints from other people's chats that they could send, in order to make a compilation with the parts that would better demonstrate our ways of communicating and our specific vernacular, inside the limits of what we could gather in with the sources and time given. All our archive of records focuses only on the linguistics part of it, meaning the general context of those conversations and the names of the people involved are not presented, they remain anonymous.

This compendium is divided in 3 categories: 'spoken message', 'written message', and 'analysed message'.
Each category is represented in the e-book by a paste, with its own icon and title associated.

'spoken message' - is dedicated to the tracks of the sound records and their transcriptions, highlighting
specifics of the vocabulary spoken.
'written message' - is demonstrated with the visual aid of screenshots, showing records of text language
(SMS, chats).
'analysed message' - theoretical part regarding the subject, with the aid of excerpts of books and articles, from linguistics, science of communication, to more reflexive texts referring the influence of a generation in language.

The design inspiration came from one thing that separate us from the generation after us, the evolution status of technology as of when we started to interact with technological devices. From our time of childhood until the beginning of puberty, we had technologic devices such as Tamagotchi, GameBoy, Windows 98, MSN Messenger, Nokia 3310, iPod classic; and we decide to base our graphic design in those graphics of such technological devices as a way to imply the 'beginning', and the format of e-book for tablets the 'now', representing the gap
of years lived by our generation.
