OVERVIEW:
Texas, 1862.
A ragged posse of grizzled cowboys drive a valuable herd of violent virus-infected humans north from Texas to the Kansas Rail Yards.
Yes, this is a serious story about a Zombie cattle-drive.
Closer in tone to Cormac McCarthy than George A. Romero, The Driven is a dark Western with a gruesome twist: Zombies. But these Zombies aren't actually Zombies, they're “Stricken”. They haven't returned from the dead. They’re not rotting. They’re not around-the-clock killers. And they’re not hunting brains. The Stricken are regular folk infected by a plague that traps its unfortunate host in a near comatose state. It’s not until a Stricken gets hungry that a Stricken gets deadly.
Lead by Wade, an experienced but reluctant wrangler, the posse of six endure Apache raids, thieving rustlers, stampeding Stricken, and a whole lot of killin’.
The treacherous journey strips each man of his humanity and threatens to erase the lines separating blood-lust from self-preservation, friend from foe, and man from beast.
