Ethyl's Alcohol & Food is a bar and performance space in Manhattan that harkens back to 1970s NYC-when the New York Dolls prowled the streets looking funky but chic, playing iconic clubs like The Coventry. Working with Ethyl's existing logo, R&S sought to reflect the red-lit, playfully sleazy, rock & roll vibe of the space. Rather than creating a distressed look artificially, R&S chose to utilize Risograph printing for the menu and collateral materials. With 2-color Risographs, there are imperfect variations in each print, evoking vintage newspapers and magazines. The printing style reflects the inspiration for the design-60's-70's ads for lingerie, wigs and the bygone era of pre-disney Times Square.
