Fang Connett - Multimedia Storytelling
INTRODUCTION:
The challenge is to document your process using Illustrator Draw and GBC's iPads to capture and create your own unique Cameo/Caricature Illustration.

MATERIALS:
This is a list of all the hardware, software, platforms and conventional materials used in the project.

Hardware: iPad, Mac Pro
Software: Illustrator Draw; Illustrator CC, Photoshop, Air Drop, Photos (iPad)
Platforms: Creative Cloud, Behance
Step #1 - Take the a photo of you or whomever you would like to turn into a cameo drawing. After the picture is taken, import the photo onto Illustrator Draw and give it a layer.
Step #2 - On a new layer, create a oval shape by using the shape tool. After this, call the layer, "Oval or Outline". This will help to keep your work organized.
Step #3 - On your image layer, change the opacity to a lower percentage in order to see your pen strokes. Then on a new layer above our Image layer, start to draw the main features of the face and give the layer a name.

Tip - In order to get a clean and precise lines, remember to zoom or rotate your iPad or Composition to make it easier to draw certain lines.
Step #4 - Clicking the eye icon on our layers tab, This makes the layer invisible and leaves us with a clean drawing and our oval outline. From here, use the exposure tool and black & white settings on Adobe Photoshop CC in order to make your lines/strokes a little darker; making it easier for the eyes to see.
Step #5 - Finally export your drawing as a PDF and you are complete. Also a good reminder to add your tags and the title of your work onto the art piece.
 Caricature Illustration

Step #1 - Import your a portrait of yourself onto Illustrator draw.
Step #2 - Find a second photo that you would like to use as a reference for your body.
Step #3 - Create a new layer for your drawing layer and name it "Head". It is easier to work on a separate layers, just in case you have to go back and change or fix a mistake.
Step #4 - Once again, create a new drawing layer and this time call it "Body". From here use the same technique with the opacity and start drawing the body for your caricature.
Step #5 - Turn your visibility for your Photographs off. This will leave us with our final drawing. Now you can adjust and tweak your drawing to your perfection.
Step #6 - Export your artwork as a PDF or what ever the client requested.
Conclusion: Overall the project was a fun and interactive way to get started using Illustrator draw, and Adobe comp to achieve our final designs for our cameo and caricature. Being able to use these tools, can be a good way to work on the go, and therefore, i highly recommend using iPads or Wacom tablets to experiment with digital artwork. This is also another skill that i could add to my inventory to help me persuade my job to be a graphic designer.
