我为东巴纸设计了一套制作和售卖作坊的品牌系统。东巴纸是一种珍稀的手工纸,它是中国少数民族纳西族用来记录东巴经和绘制东巴画的媒材。这种濒临消失的象牙色纸张,厚实而富有韧性,历经星霜屡变,岁月侵浸,最大限度地保持着它的原貌,我们在东巴纸上倾听到的,是一种回归原乡的声音。

This project is an attempt on marketizing protect for Dongba Paper, which is a 1000 years long heritage of Chinese traditional handcraft paper. Originally, Dongba Paper is used by Naxi nationality to record their history and painting. As time goes by, besides the civilization changing, Dongba Paper is facing a situation of extinction. What this project aims to do is to protect this tranditional handcraft skill by put it in the market. In so doing we spread the nostalgic sense of Dongba Paper out for more human cultural attention.


这套品牌设计以东巴纸制作过程中必不可少的四个元素“阳光、水、木、火”为视觉来源,它们作为一种联结远古的秩序构成了东巴纸坊的标志。为了尊重这一特殊的文化,我将纳西族的东巴文进行了视觉符号上的转化,将造纸过程分解为10个步骤。它们将成为一系列延展图形或包装的素材。对原始图形图案的抽象化、极简化表达是本套设计所力求实现的实践诉求。

Dongba Paper brand design is transformed with four essential elements – sunshine, water, wood, fire - in the paper making process. In order to pay respect to this particular culture, the Dongba visual symbols is resolved and recomposed  into 10 handcraft steps. They work as the resource of a series of extended graphics or packages. The abstraction of the original pattern and the simplified expression are the practical target of this design work.
