A little backstory to the consisting elements - We wanted to capture the life of Stan Brakhage, with the birth as the beginning, and then a lot of elements that is representing his weird and goofy style of design. All of the elements are made by hand, with a wide range of fruits, colours and other household equipment - Which means that all of out own shots are analogue.

Scratching on film
One of the most iconic trends Stan Brakhage used, was to carve out letters in Celluloid films, wherein each "frame" he added a new letter, so when the film was played through a celluloid cinema, it had a rough and distinct look. We tried to use the same method in the title sequence by the use of a plastic sheet, overhead projector and some acrylic paint, where we then carved 1 letter out of the painted plastic sheet, with the light shining through from below - we took a picture, then carved the next letter and so on.
