Data & Music into a lyric video

As a music production enthusiast I decided to go beyond the music and make my own music video. The idea was to make a Lyric video with a little twist, almost unoticiable. Check the video, then I will tell you the story behind of it.
I produced the song in Ableton Live and after having the song for almost 2 years sit, a co-worker thought me the basics of After Effects, then I decided to create a lyric video, just for fun.

The Idea:
Separate audio data by channels; DRUMS, INSTRUMENTS and BASS, convert it into data in AE and relate it with visuals to create an immersive experience with 0 dolars spent. Just creativity. (no plugins, just native codes).

Marimbas, guitar and synths:
I correlated particles to instruments data affecting its quantity and speed. More dbs meant more particles and faster movement of them towards the outside.
Drums:
I correlated a white layer and its opacity with drums peaks. Had to set a threshold to make a subtle but noticeable flashing with the intention to not overwhelm the spectator but make him part of the beat.
BASS:
The correlation was the same for drums but with a blue layer. Finally, in conjunction with other 2 audio react groups I was able to create a catchy video for a catchy song.
Final thoughts:
Data can be fun. It is not about making data more complex than it is, the challenge is to tranform it into simple things such as a music video so people can relate to data in a human way. That's the big challenge.
