This is the "head" logo on its own. The intention was to grab the viewers' attention and entice them to follow the project as it develops, which it certainly does. By not revealing the character's identity or facial features, the logo causes viewers to wonder who it is and why it is covered in crimson splashes. Is this the presumably dead Howard Wilcox? Is this the murderer covered in Howard's blood? Is this a key witness to the case?
