67 Packaging Design
This is one of the projects in our Visual Studies 2 module. The brief — Me, Myself and I — is to package ourselves, the designer, in a way that describes us the most.
For me, I am obsessed with coffee. Through research on existing packaging projects, I came across a great idea of putting t-shirts into coffee cups instead of just normal bags/wrapping paper. The theme of the whole project would be the colour black, brushes and patterns since those are things that I am really fond of at the moment. I created the logo for my brand—67—using brush pen as well. The tagline is Crafted from Curiosity, which is also me, since I am curious most of the time.
I created some patterns using my brush pens then photographed and enhanced them using Photoshop for better appearance and contrast. I proceeded to experiment on what could be done with them.
My intended final outcome would consist of various designs of cups, sleeves and cup carriers. I carried out some test mock-ups using nets found online and then proceeded to work with the nets taken apart from Starbucks' products.
Fortunately, I was given the opportunity to attend a digital textile printing workshop so I took the chance and printed off one of my pattern design on cotton. Since the coffee cups are meant to be packages for t-shirts, I decided to hand sew some pockets onto two shirts, one black and one white, as a part of my final outcome. The products turned out better than I expected them to.
I proceeded to print out my many test designs and eventually the final ones to put on the cups. Then I asked some friends to model for me to take some photographs of the products.
Thank you for watching :)
