The Russian settlement of Pyramiden was suddenly abandoned by its inhabitants in 1998 and left for ruin. As a result it has become a ghost town with possessions left to gather dust. The stillness of the surrounding wilderness adds to its eerie atmosphere where a dead silence can be broken by the echoes of a pin dropping in the long corridors of its deserted buildings.
