Abarth 595 Competizione - Motor O2

Frenetic Bee.

This was the title Motor O2 gave to the review they did to Abarth 595 Competizione and, with an LSD, 180hp, Koni FSD, Record Monza, 4 pistons' Brembo brake system and the amazing Sabelt's bacquets, it's easy to understand why.

As a convict fan of this car, I can say it wasn't an ordinary day. Between controlling the enthusiasm my right foot appeared to have, controlling the drool taking the photos, Motor O2 was lucky for having the Abarth in the end of the day... Shame, but STILL can't have one. It's on the list...

Driving it is amazing. It's certain it's not a wonder but it's so challenging and "hard" it remembers the old times when you could feel everything in a car, and that's what puts Abarth in a league of its own. The suspension and the LSD work so well creating a "kart" that can do corners at, say, interesting speeds but, as I said before, having a oldschool feeling has its disadvantages. Just has Motor O2 said, giving up the throttle in the middle of a corner, even it's just a bit, is a SOS call for our nerves since this chassis is so spontaneous that the rear end gains life, however, under control...

The brake system also deserves a highlight, the pedal is well adjusted and the brake intensity is great. About stability in braking... Let's say that you should brake only in straights, without weight decompensation. If you brake while entering a corner, it will be funny...

Inside the Abarth, actual gadgets are there (uConnect, Beats sound system, AC auto...), but what really matters is the excellent support that Sabelt seats give. In the first instants, they appear to offer a too high driving position (no height adjusts), however... We start to understand that it is adequate for fast driving. The gearbox is weird. How so? It works well in a situation of normal driving although we keep this thought: "It's so soft...". Speed up and that thought earns wings and go away.

I'm not talking more about it, that's something you need to confirm HERE, in Motor O2's review!
