Contemporary Feminist Tarot Card - "Lara"
This work was created during a client-course collaboration with the organization Planned Parenthood and Parsons School of Design. It is intended to symbolize the persona of a contemporary urban feminist- often the strongest supporters of the organization and its goals. Lara is a socially connected character, a modern member of the workforce, who is well-traveled, well-rounded and sexually responsible. She stands with a determined expression on a map of the world, holding a feminist novel, and a work handbag containing a condom and phone. On her lapel, is a manicured middle finger pin- a symbol recently associated with the "Nasty Woman" movement.
