HP II: The Awakening
Browser games in a world without Flash
In the summer of 2015 I wrote an article for Multimedia-Magazine Digezz. In it, I spoke about Flash, which at that time made several appearances in media for being officially labeled as soon-to-be-dead by it's owner Adobe. In the article I wrote about ways to create interactive content previously realized via Flash.
One way is using HTML5's canvas-tag along with Javascript. The task is simplified by the framework createJS, which actually consists of four independent libraries.
For demonstration purposes, I decided to program a little game around «HTW Chur»'s beloved lawn mowing robot, visibly named «Eitschpii the second» after janitor H.P. Manzoni. In the game, the player has to steer the robot to mow flowers, avoiding rocks or colliding with the borders, while time and energy levels have to be taken into account.
