An exhibition to show the new form of racism

Design Communication BA FYP, Lasalle College of the Arts

Project Brief: An exhibition to show the new form of racism (New Racism) in Singapore and raising awareness than racism still occurs here.

Singapore, a multi-racial society, has accomplished what other countries have yet to or even dream about—multiple racial groups living in harmonious society.  The importance of living in harmony has been instilled to the public since young, from the daily pledge recital to primary school textbooks and racial harmony day celebration. However, racism still occurs here in Singapore nonetheless. The main problem is perception, where people think that we have long overcame racism and that it doesn’t happen in Singapore anymore.

The aim of this project hopes to reach out to Millennials to create awareness and bring to light this new form of racism and how serious of a problem it actually is. This project also hopes to get millennials to realise the severity of the problem and take a stand against new racism, instead of turning a blind eye to it. The portable exhibition was placed in areas where millennials normally hang out, between Plaza Singapura and Orchard road
RACISM WAS NEVER DEAD, IT HAS EVOLVED
