this work is part of a project which is the result of three years of research in Islamic botanical art and in contemporary botanical art. I tried to combine the contemporary concept of botanical art, which is defined now as a genre of art whose goal is to depict whole plants or parts of plants in a manner that is both aesthetically pleasing and scientifically accurate and which may take the form of scientific illustration or realistic drawing and painting of botanical subjects (see: http://www.botanicalartandartists.com/what-is-botanical-art.html), with vintage style and Islamic designs, so plants and flowers were drawn from life and some detailed photographs, and the designs were inspired by the design of different Islamic botanical art such as flower paintings in albums surrounded by decorated borders, plant illustrations in scientific manuscripts surrounded with texts in different sizes, marble floral design from Mughal dynasty. all work are with mixed media, as I used a wide variety of mediums; pencils, charcoals, pastels, watercolors, oils, combined with other medias and techniques like collage and photo transfer.
