Our Clients, who won the lease to run both the cafe and bar at Shannon Airport, asked us to redesign the entire foodcourt which accomodates 500+ people. The space needed to facilitate the separate identities of both commercial operations, while allowing for 'neutral' zones for passengers who may choose other food & drink offerings. We identified the need for an axis on which everything would rotate: a central tree, illuminated with daylight effect lighting. Around the tree we created a circulation zone for access between the cafe, the bar and the neutral zones while maintaining traffic routes to Duty Free, Toilet Facilities and Currency Exchange.
