Merit Andrew reached out with an ambitious challenge for a major airline manufacturer in the aerospace industry – design a digital story-telling entity based on artificial intelligence that could visually narrate the story of the company’s achievements in the aviation industry, presenting various statistics and information as though the entity was reaching deep into the past using futuristic A.I. technology. Eric art-directed the visual form and synthetic personality of “VEGA”, an A.I. character driven mostly by sound-waves. By developing an animation-sound engine which drove the core of the animation via sound input fed in through voiceover files, a unique and spontaneous real-time look and feel was achieved for the spot. Additionally Eric custom designed hundreds of production styleframes and custom animation elements that were used in the animation pipeline.
