FOUNDATION
For 'FOUNDATION' I was inspired by the current state of how we percieve the human body and especially how young girls percieve their bodies. Nowadays make-up is being used by young girls as if it dominates their lives. The thick, almost velvety substance creates a new skin and maybe even a new body. Because they wear so much foundation/make-up they are almost molding their faces in the right proportions, this inspired me to translate two bigger issues in two alienating photographs.
In one translation I replaced the trunk of my own body by a piece of paper which functions as a new torso.
In the second translation I distorted my body as much as possible so that the body is no longer in perfect condition and out of proportion.
This indicates the idealized body of women and fashionmodels. With these photographs I want to show people that beauty shouldn't dominate our natural bodies. We will lose our bodies if we keep on looking at fake representations of what beauty should look like.
