Our task was to create spiky cars at a parking lot, completely 3d in tight deadline. We chose environment right in front of our doors at R.U.R.. We shot reference video on iphone to get idea of timing etc., then we matchmoved that movement, to have natural camera handheld. Because we didn’t have much time, we used simple photos and camera projection and we just added light and shadows generated on simple geometry. As for cars, the spikes were sculpted in zbrush and then animated as shapes in softimage. I was responsible for sculpting spikes, shading and lighting cars and then for final look development.
