Library In the old city

Location: Bab tooma, Damascus, Syria.
Program: Main reading hall, kid’s hall, Computer hall, multipurpose hall,Exhibition space, Cafe.

What is library?
What does it serve?
How is its use?

These questions and others are very importantcatalyst in order to design an effective building in its area
Because of this controversy the building seems to bethe result for each point and especially the public use

Due to its location in the old city between the oldwall and the river, the main concept was to combine
between inand outside the building to allow the visitors to enjoy reading the books onthe outside terrace which is overlooking on the old city and the river.
The masses were simple and symbolic to express thestructure in the old city.

Location : Baramka, Damascus, Syria
Program : multipurpose hall,exhibition space .

The project presented as an annex to the faculty ofarchitecture in Damascus University.
It’s located between two buildings.
The concept behind this project deals with four points:
Lighting: keeping natural light for the old structure.
Public use: keeping existing spaces without blocking thecirculation axes ad activating the public meeting points.
Flow: trying to keep students flow (either visual ormovement axis).
Circulation/the show: providing in/out exhibition areas.
The aim of this project was to present this new annex as aland mark to attract the visitors; for this reason the facades were flexiblehave the ability to change between opened and closed windows to serve theexhibition’s functions and in another hand to create different shapes orphrases ..Etc.
Which reflect the occasion of the exhibition .

Extension for the University

The aim of this project is to create an extensionfor the University of civil engineering Response with its requirements andcreate interactive spaces for the students which are represented by the outdoorauditorium and the courtyard.
