    The Folio Society is a prestigious publishing house known for creating lavish editions of classic literary titles. In Spring 2012 they commissioned me to produce some custom lettering for a new edition of The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, a book of 12th Century Persian poetry translated by the Edward Fitzgerald in 1859. To capture the rich and exotic imagery of the text I studied the Naskh form of Arabic writing and developed a new calligraphic hand with an Arabic feel. Working closely with the team at the Folio Society we balanced the extent of the arabesque style with the legibility and print considerations for the book spine. Read Less
