West Kowloon: Someone Else mobile app

This mobile app is designed and programmed by WARE for “Someone Else” performance In West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong. The audience has to download this app to reserve the seat before the show. The audience first comes together as a group on the roof of the project site office of West Kowloon Cultural District. Wearing headphones, they look over a panorama of the city and listen to a proposal contemplated in different ways, until the time comes for them to head away from the rooftop.

In the second part of the show, which is a few days later the performance, the app would synchronize with International Commerce Centre (ICC) building facade LED display to continue the performance. This app is designed to linking the audience with the sound, the environment and visual into a special experience.
We would like the audience to start a journey as they first launch the app, so we create a tone that is different from normal OS default color to let them feel like immersing into a different environment, expecting to enter into a story, to break out of user usual experience circle.

In “Someone Else”, the audience become the performers in a 45-minute structured encounter that mixes sincerity, confession and humour, asking them to move out of the ‘theatre’ space and pledge to approach a stranger in the city – to attempt to form a connection, ‘from nothing’. This piece presented by theatremaker Ant Hampton (UK), and issued from 28th February to 29th March,2016.
Client: West Kowloon Hong Kong
