“The Shock of the Familiar” examined how design is inherent in all objects yet is often invisible to the intended audience. The New York Times chose Morla’s cover solution from 7 other selected submissions. By conceptually objectifying the magazine itself, placing the masthead upside down, one has to reexamine how to respond this familiar format.
