Theo was started in 1989 as a Belgian family business and has developed into a major player in the international eye-wear market. They have dozens of agents selling designer frames in 50 countries across the globe.

The problem
Theo field agents need a better tool to present offer to their customers. Whether they are at a specialized fair or at a customer's location, they need a tool with which they can present and order products in an efficient way.

Solution
A mobile sales application created in close collaboration with Theo field agents.

My role
UI design on behalf of Xcommerce.


Preliminary research

First, I started gathering information about the way field agents are doing their work. I found out that agents were using printed catalogs and display frame cases to present Theo’s frames to customers. They were recording orders on paper or in electronic documents and then sending them by email/fax to the head-office. The personnel from the head-office received the requests and started preparing the frames for shipment.


Even though this process was cumbersome, it worked and agents were used to it. Our view was that it is a good process, but it needed some updates to facilitate sales.

Together with Theo, we highlighted some of the flaws of the process:
- difficulty in searching and presenting products to customers
- important updates such as stock-information were unavailable
- inefficient order processing and delivery
- other information such as customer data and order status isn't always available


The solution

We've built a tablet application aimed at resolving all the issues mentioned above.
