Hartlepool United FC - Crest Redesign Concept

Hartlepool United FC.

Hartlepool United Football Club is a professional football club based in Hartlepool, England. Formed in 1908, the club plays in the National League, the fifth tier of the English football league system.

The club are currently in the process of modernising their crest and made an open call to designers and fans to form their new identity. Unfortunately I heard the news of the club's intentions to rebrand too late, but I still wanted to produce my own take and vision.

The club requires a crest that gives them a clear identity both on and off the pitch. The aim was to create a crest that provides the club with its own identity that is modern, simple, bold and recognisable, whilst still representing the town and its heritage. Fan surveys revealed three key elements were a must to feature on any new or future badge: A stag or stag's head, the club's formation date (1908) and a nod to the town's maritime links.

The new crest draws elements from the fan survey results as well as the town coat of arms, the club's colours, previous crests and Hartlepool's rich maritime history. The new crest concept works across all platforms, from kit and merchandise to social media.
