Time Warner Blog Redesign
As part of Time Warner’s Corporate Communications team, I was brought into the redesign process for the Time Warner blog. The website’s original design showed it’s growing pains. The site wasn't responsive, and the posts felt rigid because they required so many fields. The objective for the new take was clear: to incorporate responsive web patterns and determine a more flexible authoring system.
With those ideas in mind I created dozens of wireframes and mockups. The team and I devised a more modular approach to the site’s elements so that posts could still feel beautiful and functional even if the content is only a youtube video or a picture gallery. This modularity made the responsive styling simple. Since all elements have a similar visual system, once one element could adapt to our target breakpoint sizes the logic would be applied to all other elements.
What really made this project a success was working hand-in-hand with the development team. We bounced ideas off of each other as we built rather than working in siloed teams. Our combined insights allowed us to troubleshoot any problems in real-time so we could create solutions immediately. The relaunch was a huge success, creating more engagement and traffic than before. The revamp of the design and success earned our team a 2016 Gold Stevie Award for Best Blog from The International Business Awards.
