Semen Hanin’s poetry has been published since 1998 in both Russia and Latvia, and the book “Tol’ko čto” has received the magazine Karogs prize for 2002. Semen Hanin translates work by young Latvian poets into Russian and is among the founders and curators of the Orbita association.
Orbita has begun a series of bilingual books, and “Tol’ko čto / Tikko” is the second volume in the series. These are in fact two separately bound volumes – one volume of poetry in Russian, and a second volume of Latvian translations. The two books are brought together in one case.
The translations are by Jānis Rokpelnis, Inga Gaile, Māris Salējs, Agita Draguna, Pēteris Draguns, Jo and Kārlis Vērdiņš.
