This house is predominantly timber framed, with a masonry boundary wall and steel framing around the entrance. The idea was to have a house that has that wow factor but achieved a sensible build cost. Another much higher spec house was designed for the same client to go onto the front section (block of land).
The Architect called for the roof profile to be as thin as possible, so rafters were doubled up and mixed in with LVL timber to achieve this thin profile at the eaves. Custom corner lintels were also used in places of the house to allow the windows or doors to open right up leaving the corners open.
