The Light Bulb Dilemma

This is a project I did for one of my classes at Full Sail University, where we were tasked with creating a large thought/big design related solution to one of the many problems associated with the light bulb. As I have long been fraught with the idea of ALWAYS opening the wrong end of the package when fumbling around in the dark for a fresh bulb, I decided to redesign the packaging to more adequately and elegantly solve the wrong way issue.

I also created a faux company, so that I had something entertaining for myself to do while working on this project. I introduce you to Belb (yeah, you need the upside down "e" to make it work) Handcrafted Artisanal Light Bulbs, proudly bespoke made in Portland, Oregon. Seriously, where else would you find handcrafted artisanal light bulbs.

Regardless of my design dalliance, The packaging is designed to be functionally at the apex of big thinking. In addition to solving the wrong way issue when opening the packaging, you are able to stack the bulbs in an alternating manner which saves on the way the bulbs are packaged in the factory. The package allows for more bulbs to be placed on a standard shipping pallet due to the reduced width of the package. This saves, space, packaging cost and transportation costs.
