European Architecture Student Assembly was founded in 1981 by architect students.

EASA takes place each summer in a different country, with the event usually lasting two weeks. It is organised by students of architecture for students of architecture and the concept is operated on a cooperative basis.

Typically 400 students take part in the event and engage in workshops, exhibitions, lectures and social events loosely based around a specific theme. These events are run by a combination of academics and students and encompass a wide variety of activities with a greater or lesser relationship to architecture.

The following describes "The Living Boom" workshop.
The workshop took place at the EASA Lithuania 2016 in Nida.
The theme of this easa was "NOT YET DECIDED" and had the symbolic meaning of the Schrodinger's cat story.
Here is a little explanation of the theme

"The Living Boom" is a public space in Nida (Lithuania), located at the end of a pier, and offers a colorful and vibrant space for all visitors.

I had the honor to be part of the team behind this succesfull story, that we`ve turned into Nida`s new Living Room!
The Living Boom Concept
The main idea was simple.

One creates a room by putting four borders named walls.

A pier has one way in and one way out.
Also a pier has already three land/water borders, so all we had to do was to put the fourth.

The final result was Nida`s new Living Room.
Although my tutors have designed the vision of the workshop, the whole thing started from the pier and the pile of uncut wood beams!
We`ve started by cutting the beams for the trusses
and reality checking how it fits
Then we`ve had to pre-assemble everything so we can understand before we go to the pier where we can face problems
After everything was set we started transporting everything on the assembly/building site.
Nida has an amazing nature. These are some photos I took on my way to the pier!
The next day we launched the assembly and we had a lot of fun on the pier.
Then the cladding part began again with lots of smiles
Meanwhile we started painting our new Living Room
It was time to start furnishing the Room. Most of our furniture was a refurbished furniture from our Accommodation. We combined old pieces into new configurations or entirely designed new ones, like the fire pit which I designed and constructed from welded steel sheets with the help of my tutors!
This is what is the view inside the Living Boom!
We`ve even had our flag which was a gift from the Nida Municipality
Thanks!
