For Air Greenland’s new visual identity, we wanted to paint the planes metallic red. But then an engineer explained that the metallic paint would make an Airbus 330-200 half a ton heavier, resulting in higher fuel costs for the airline. So we asked whether they could replace the metal in the paint with a lighter substance, and before long we had a dazzling red carbon fiber paint made that is 100 times lighter than traditional metallic paint.
