The Oak and Shield Plate

These plates are a part of my Thesis project for the Savannah College of Art and Design.  The inscription reads "If more of us valued food and cheer and song, it would be a merrier world", which is a quote from Tolkien's "The Hobbit".

I under-glazed them in a goldenrod color, and then over-glaze with a dark blue, to get the carving to pop.

They are 100% food safe and functional- my sister has them now and uses them frequently!
