From my understanding of the brief each student was meant to produce a A4 illustration from articles provided by Marlene. The illustration was supposed to link to a specific line or saying in the article. Then from there on we were supposed to apply this illustration to a 2 page magazine spread. Design is crucial and its supposed to tie in all together with the concept. The spread had to have all necessary elements such as Headings, sub-headings and pull quotes.
My illustrations concept is derived from the ‘Talking the Tweet’ article, more specifically the lines which state, The grandmother of one millennial who attended his graduation said disappointedly: “I was expecting earrings and tattoos. You all look like bankers.” From this statement I decided to base my concept around the graduation ceremony. I used different elements that appear on a graduation sertificates such as the background patterns and the reddish stamp to further encorperate my design and concept.
