Olympic Games Cambodia

Olympic Games, Cambodia.
__

Context
In 1958, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam formed the Southeast Asian Games.
This sports organization aims to promote regional cooperation, understanding, and positive relationships amongst the countries. Cambodia will host the the 32nd SEA Games for the 1st time in 2023.
The book was designed to go over the construction of the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex. We reported the scope of the project by gathering interviews, cultural inspiration, technical information, on-site photos, and introducing the architects team.

Design
Cambodia has a rich history. Architects reused some architectural elements and principles from the Khmer period in the sport complex. We chose to apply the same logic to give a distinct personality to the book, a subtle mix between past & present. We created some graphic shapes directly inspired by Khmer decoration of Angkor temples and also used that with graphic lines to symbolize architectural drawings. In order to play with tradition and modernity, we created a pattern. This gold pattern refers to the Khmer jewelry. We placed it to generate dynamic compositions and a rich aesthetic. The color are based on the Cambodian flag to bring out the official aspect of the project.
