The Fool, The Lovers, The Sun
A study and redesign of tarot cards.
We, as humans want to know and either attain or avoid our destiny, we want proof and to hold something that is concrete. Fortune telling is more desirable when we perceive it with something physical and concrete. We have a desire to know our futures because of uncertainty that comes with life and therefore have designed ways to mimic predictions and entertain themselves. From studying different methods of telling the future, I discovered that the design used by those future tellers that succeed are attractive, amusing, trustworthy, believable, and credible. These attributes are what I wanted to achieve in my design.

When one thinks of fortune telling the most common picture that comes to mind is a fortune teller in a dark room with tarot cards and a crystal ball. I wanted the design of my tarot cards to be alluring and magical, like the room of a psychic. I also discovered that different decks of tarot cards have different themes. I chose  nature as a theme. I chose the theme of nature because it goes back to a more physical and organic form rather than apps or websites that tell the future. When future telling readings are performed, you have to be one with yourself and keep yourself grounded and connected with nature.
