Etched Glass Award of Appreciation

Etched Glass Award of Appreciation - NC Highway Patrol
The challenge was to make a unique etched glass Award of Appreciation for an officer that means a lot to his fellow coworkers and express that in the dedication he has to the job.  My solution was to create a four panel etching honoring the First Sergeant.  Each pane of glass is sandblasted in reverse in multiple stages with relating symbols shown on each side.  The total glass sizes measure approximately 5 1/2" W x 9" H x 3 1/2" D.
Angle view of the front and right sides of the etched glass box.  The glass is backed with an inner box painted with a gloss black for added contrast of the etching.
Back and left sides of the etched glass box.  The stained wood base and top compliment the clear glass.
The front side is carved in reverse showing the North Carolina State Highway Patrol badge of the First Sergeant, which incorporates the State Seal, eagle, and other elements.  Along with the symbol the lettering for the dedication was set underneath and all the masking was done after I made a vinyl cut image and peeled away each secrion in stages to create the contrasting depths.
Left side showing the NC Highway Patrol patch worn on their uniform.
The patriotic symbol of the American Flag was carved in stages at different depths in the surface.
Right side sandblasted with the NCHP first sergeant stripes.
