Nature vs. Nurture
In this collection of images, my work investigates how we nurture plants by trying to compartmentalize them to create order. We shape, contain, mold and even genetically modify nature to regulate them.  Humans are sometimes treated this way too as we categorize people and attempt to restrict them into stereotypes both real and imagined.  However, in the end nature is an uncontainable force.

Nurture is the force that mediates this activity. My work seeks to show that we preen and prune things that are appealing to us. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement and its simple clean shapes, I want the viewer to experience this unnatural constriction from shapes. By stretching the images past their boundaries, I invite the viewer to imagine the unseen potential in nature and people.
Family Values
In this collection of images, my work reveals how our families mold and shape us into the people we are today. Whether biological or chosen, we are forever shaped by those who we hold close. Often these bonds are not perfect. With different viewpoints and personalities, our goals can be misaligned; however, at the end of the day we are still one family.

My work seeks to show that even though our families may be flawed, they are still pieces of who we are. I was inspired by the gradients in temperature maps. By using similar colors, I hope to show the warmth and life that beats within a family.
